Haughty Melodic

HM.jpg
Lately it’s been the magnificent Mr. Mike Doughty who’s glorious and simple songs have been running through what's-left-of-our-brains, and giving sustenance to our meager lives.

Maybe you’ll like him, too.

Several of his concerts are available for download here. (And don't worry, that mean old Supreme Court won’t be able to touch you if you do.)

This concert, from May 23, 2005 at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, is a fine starting point. The songs include "Busting Up a Starbucks", "Unsingable Name", and "Tremendous Brunettes".

Luckily, God introduced us to Mr. Doughty via certain radiowaves emanating from Air America’s morning program a couple of weeks ago. Mr. Doughty played a couple of songs on-air, while giving up the fact that his new album’s name, Haughty Melodic, is an anagram for his own name. We were so impressed that we looked up the word anagram and then found the website that he mentioned. Hence, “Karmic if Will”. (We feel so cool.)
Cheers!
