Acid in the Pacific Ocean
Yesterday in Alaska a research vessel pulled into port with news that the Pacific Ocean is becoming more acidic and less oxygenated.
The rise in acidity is due to the ocean absorbing a large amount of carbon dioxide - the stuff that is loosed into earth's atmosphere by the burning of fossil fuels.
This change in the ocean's makeup can be expected to lead to a significant decrease in all types of aquatic biology.

Mighty Mice

The entire staff of KIW is mightily impressed with the life of Razza, a brown Norwegian Rat who eluded capture for four months while swimming between islands in the South Pacific in search of love.
And speaking of love, did you know that - when they are in the mood - male mice are actually quite musical?
Given these kinds of facts, KIW can’t really imagine that rodenthood needs improving. However human scientists have apparently made some mice even braver (or is it stupider?).
Scientists have even created a hybrid human-rat. (And no, it hasn’t finished law school yet, as far as we know – although we can’t be completely certain of that.)
Read all about it . . . .

Nirvana at last
Maybe it's the strong weather in the Great Pacific Northwest.

Maybe it's the pure blue air up here.
Maybe it's five years of Republicans fucking up a perfectly good world, that has finally forced the staff here at KIW to feel the rage. The rage that pulsed through the veins and the music of the late Kurt Cobain.
Whatever the reasons might be, it's clear - according to the experts in KIW's music department - that Nirvana's music has never sounded so good. Never been quite so right.
Get BitTorrent and then download and watch this amazing 1992 concert filmed at the Reading Music Festival in Britain in September 1992.
Here is some BitTorrent software.
