the mighty Mr. George Galloway

george galloway.jpg
Few elected leaders have the quick intelligence, and the confident command of facts and history, that British Member of Parliament George Galloway possesses.

Mr. Galloway makes it his business to tell the truth - and to make sure that others don't cloud that truth.

Spend nine minutes with this August 8, 2006 exchange between Mr. Galloway and a Sky News reporter. You'll hear some truths that are seldom uttered in the U.S. media. (Sky News is the older British cousin of America's Fox News. Both are controlled by Australian media mogul, Rupert Murdock.)

Yeah, its great. The only problem is that, aside from being grossly rude and openly sexist (refers to woman interviewer as a "silly girl") he is either grossly ignorant or a outright liar. He repeatedly claims that there are "thousands" of Lebanese prisoners in Israeli jails. In fact, per AAsharq Al Awsat, Wikipedia and Arab Media Watch, Israel holds only 4 Lebanese prisoners who could in any way can be considered political, although it holds about 25 on conventional, not political criminal charges. Wikipedia

Arab Media Watch affirms the same, but mentions that Israel is also believe to
hold about 25 Lebanese on conventional criminal charges.

Your gallantry is noted, Michael. I hope that women everywhere will reward you appropriately!

As for your assertions about Israel not holding Arab prisoners, the facts simply don’t support that. You may want to try to parse whether the prisoners are Lebanese or Palestinian or simply Arab – but it’s undoubtedly a fact that Israel kidnaps - and kills – those it finds distasteful. Currently, Israel is holding the Palestinians’ democratically-elected parliament hostage!

This decades-long policy has bred – and continues to breed - terrorism. US support of this policy was the main motivation behind the 9-11 bombers' attack on the U.S.

We can’t fight Islamic radicalism until we talk truthfully about what is causing it. George Galloway, flawed though he might be, is speaking the unvarnished truth.
