Christmas mourning (funk-no-more)

He’s gone.

The mighty, Mr.James Brown has died.
Star time
The Godfather of Soul (and funk, and rap, and hip-hop, . . . and rock-n-roll) passed on in a hospital in Atlanta, Georgia this morning.

As a tiny tribute to the hardest working man in show business, the staff of KIW’s music department decided to come to work this Christmas morning to make sure that the world gets to hear this 1973 James Brown gem titled “You Can Have Watergate (Just Gimme Some Bucks and I’ll be Straight).”

The band on this recording (an iteration of James Brown’s band, The ‘JBs) includes Mr. Bootsy Collins on bass.

Free James Brown!. . .
