distraction and democracy . . .

During the 1980s, when I lived in Washington DC, I'd sit at my desk each morning and listen to a two hour radio show hosted by a wonderful, smart, woman named Diane Rehm. These days Mrs. Rehm podcasts her shows and I can again listen to her, here in Seattle.

The first hour of yesterday's show was a discussion between Diane and two authors. One author, Maggie Jackson, wrote a book describing problems with modern peoples' thought processes. These problems are brought on by the many technological distractions that we encounter each day.

The second author, Rick Shenkman, has some important things to say about voters in the U.S.

The show is titled "Distraction and Democracy."

Here is an mp3 of the show (it's an hour long).

It's still winter in Seattle today. Hope things are going well!
