bushwater.jpgPresident George W. Bush authorized the CIA to conduct interrogations using specific techniques employed by China during the early 1950s to obtain (mostly false) "confessions" from captured US soldiers.

The methods President Bush authorized came directly from a 1957 article detailing Chinese abuses of US prisoners during the Korean Conflict of the early 1950s.

The article, titled Communist Attempts to Elicit False Confessions From the Air Force Prisoners of War, authored by sociologist Alfred Biderman, was written in an effort to detail human rights abuses - not as a "how to" guide.
