Banks Part 1

KIW's crack economists have been just a tad perplexed at the sudden financial meltdown that burst into the international zeitgeist during the Indian summer of 2008.

Luckily we found this BBC2 series titled The City Uncovered with Evan Davis.

Did you know that the same scientists who plot trajectories for rockets, sometimes use their skills to predict stock prices for investment banks?

It's a three part series. The first episode aired in Britain on 14 January, 2009 and is titled 'Banks and How to Break Them' This chapter explains exactly how a bank is supposed to work.

Banking and Boring are two words that start with the letter B. And the similarities that these two words represent do not stop there with a majority of the population. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. I wish during my long arduous study of this social science, I had this excellent documentary with its clever references that can explain and illustrate this current financial crisis. If you have the time, watch it. You can kill 2 birds with one stone, be entertained, and understand what is really going on, and what may continue to go on for quite awhile. Knowledge is power, and all of us may need some of that right now.
